ZHU’s ‘Nightcrawler’ Fires Shots at EDM Heavyweights

If you’re going to make a splash with a new song, you might as well target some big shots while you’re at it, right? That must have been ZHU‘s philosophy because his new song “Nightcrawler” doesn’t hold back.

Creeptastic.

Along with being his first single of 2017, “Nightcrawler” got an insane video to go with it. The video, filmed like a movie trailer, features some gorgeous ladies dressed in black carrying a casket. Once they get it to the cemetery, a list of crossed off names pops into the frame. The list includes several heavyweights in the EDM industry, like Kygo, Marshmello, the Chainsmokers, Zedd, Afrojack and Steve Aoki.

The whole video has a gritty, grainy quality that looks more like a snuff film than a music video. It’s pretty clear that there are some shots being fired at the artists mentioned in the video.

To top it all off, the actual song “Nightcrawler” sounds more like a theme song to Stranger Things than a typical EDM banger. The groove picks up as it goes on, but there’s still something distinctly retro about it.
