In celebration of their 75th anniversary, M&Ms asked them for a little help with a theme song overhaul. The result? A surprisingly sweet new take on “The Candy Man” from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder version, of course).
The 1971 song is a childhood favorite that even most Millennials remember. It’s hard to forget the iconic scene in which Charlie and his classmates rush to the candy store in search of a “Golden Ticket” (cue Aubrey Woods as “Bill the Candy Man” serenading a group of starry-eyed, salivating youth anticipating a sugar high).
With a modern twist, Zedd and Aloe Blacc transform the tune into an electronic dance number you can get down to at the club. To the surprise of many Zedd fans, the production carries hardly any traces of the producer’s signature style. Even so, Zedd’s reputation as an EDM powerhouse shines bright with a soulful Aloe Blacc as the perfect embellishment.
