Weigh In: Does the Trailer for Netflix’s EDM Movie ‘XOXO’ Look Awesome or Awful?

When Netflix first revealed that they’d be making an EDM movie, we were hugely skeptical. Most attempts at commercializing the music we love end up clearly being from an outsider’s perspective. However, now that we’ve seen the trailer for XOXO, it looks pretty darn good.

We’d like to hear what you all think though because we’re a little nervous about getting our hopes up.

Here’s the trailer:

If anything, it looks a little sugar-coated, but it does seem to capture the energy and magic that go hand in hand with the best festivals.

The movie stars some actors we’ve seen around before, including Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), who has shown off her killer festival style at Coachella year after year.

Sarah Hyland is best known for her work on ‘Modern Family.’

In addition to Hyland, XOXO stars Chris D’Elia, Graham Phillips, Hayley Kiyoko, Colin Woodell, Ione Skye, Brett DelBuono and Ryan Hansen.

The show revolves around Phillips’ character Ethan, a wannabe superstar DJ. In a stroke of luck, Ethan lands a spot performing at XOXO, one of the biggest festivals in the nation. However, he’s only got a limited amount of time to get there.

To top off the project, they’ve also enlisted some real EDM heavyweights to create the soundtrack. The song in the trailer is a new release from Galantis and East & Young called “Make Me Feel.” Other artists making a contribution are Skrillex & Diplo, Dada Life, Michael Brun, Hitchhiker, Disclosure and more.

XOXO will appear on Netflix on August 26 (which is the same day the soundtrack will be released), so we’ll have to wait until then to decide whether to give this movie the thumbs up or thumbs down.

In the meantime, let us know what you think of the trailer.
