Watch: Hardwell Speaks On Tomorrowland Banishment

One of the biggest festival’s biggest draws has disappeared off the lineup. Hardwell, who has played at Tomorrowland for years, is not on the 2016 list of performers.

The famed DJ’s label Revealed Recordings confirmed his lack of attendance on Twitter.

Unfortunately, it seems like there’s some drama stewing as to why the Dutch producer is taking a hiatus.

So here’s the backstory:

Hardwell held the number one place on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs for two years in a row. The next year Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike reportedly hired hot women to walk around Tomorrowland with iPads coercing festival-goers into voting for the duo. As such, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike ended up nabbing the top spot.

Steal #1 from this guy? Not likely without some shady goings-on.

However, their methods are considered cheating, but DJ Mag failed to disqualify the pair. Hardwell was very outspoken about the unfairness, as were several other DJs.

Unfortunately for him, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike’s manager is one of the people who runs Tomorrowland.

Some have speculated that the “Run Wild” artist is boycotting the festival to avoid those nasty folks, but others think it’s unlikely that the DJ would abandon his fans that way. The more likely scenario is that he wasn’t invited due to some bad blood amongst the parties involved.
