A friend in need is a friend indeed. Louis Tomlinson of One Direction was really hurting, but Steve Aoki stepped up to perform with him on The X Factor.

After a long battle with leukemia, Louis Tomlinson’s mother passed away earlier this week at the age of 42. Despite his sadness, Tomlinson went ahead and debuted his first ever solo single, “Just Hold On,” on an episode of The X Factor.

Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson rocked the stage.

In this situation, even Simon Cowell, who is notoriously not complimentary, had to give some praise to the duo, and especially his previous X Factor discovery Tomlinson.
