We knew for a while it was coming, but the shop is officially open now in Inner Richmond. They hosted a soft debut this weekend but will have the full launch next month.

Boba isn’t the first thing people think of when it comes to EDM, but now that there’s going to be an EDM boba spot popping up in San Francisco, it sounds like a pretty grand pairing.
The new food stop will be called Gosu, and in addition to having a tea bar with various Asian snacks and desserts, it will be backed by nonstop EDM grooves. According to the founder Joey Tran, EDM and tea actually go hand in hand.
“It’s not about drugs or anything like that,” he said. “You know how you go into a bar and see people fighting sometimes because they’re drunk? But you don’t see that at a rave because we believe in the concept of PLUR. That’s why I incorporated that.”
The 22-year-old sounds like a pretty savvy business owner. Gosu isn’t even open yet, but Tran is already thinking about how it will evolve. He’s targeting a millennial audience, which means he’s got to pay extra attention to current trends. “Boba can be popular now, but in a couple years be gone,” he said. “So every year my items will change because people get bored of things.”
Hopefully he holds off on evolving too soon, because the menu already sounds pretty bomb. So far it includes things like bacon-wrapped avocado fries, “frushi” (which is sushi made with fruit and coconut rice) and a variety of sweet and savory waffles in addition to customizable boba drinks.
If that weren’t enough, there’s going to be a gaming area to play some of the best Nintendo64 games, like Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers. Naturally, the whole place will look like a dance floor, with lights coordinating to the music that’s playing.
Gosu will open in early January, so San Francisco natives should be sure to check it out.
