The Most Ridiculously Over-Played Festival Songs Of Summer ’15

Some songs just don’t know when to quit. Whenever you go to a festival, these are the songs you can almost guarantee will be played at least once throughout the night (or day). Most of the time, songs fad in popularity over time. Unfortunately, there are certain songs that get played over and over again; here are some of the songs you’ll hear at EDM festivals that have been played to death. This list is not meant to judge the quality of the song, but only point out that at one point in time, the EDM scene was saturated with them. We can all agree to disagree! The idea for this list came from a Reddit thread at r/ave.

1. Animals – Martin Garrix
Props to Martinn Garrix for the success he’s had with this song, but this song has quickly become super annoying. Last year, “Animals” became the butt of the joke when deadmau5 trolled the crowd at Ultra when he dropped the McMaNGOS “Martin Garrix Had a Farm”. Even deadmau5 thinks that it’s time for this song to die!

2. Dillon Francis and DJ Snake- Get Low
While the buildup of the song has a sick beat, “Get Low” definitely should be retired. It’s featured on Dodge commericials: that should be the first clue the song is officially over and tired.

3. Clarity – Zedd ft. Foxes
Zedd is awesome and I’m sure this song got many people into the EDM scene. However, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that this song is way overplayed at festivals and on mainstream radio.

4. Titanium – David Guetta ft. Sia
“Titanium” has been played out beyond any hope of repair. From spin classes to Pitch Perfect, this song has had its hay day. And now it’s time for it to rest. There are better songs to be played now.

5. Get Lucky – Daft Punk
Similar to “Clarity”, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” has plagued mainstream radio for far too long. While this song is catchy, unfortunately it became too catchy; it was heard everywhere!

6. Ellie Goulding, “Lights”
“Lights” made the rest of the world notice the talented Ellie Goulding. While this song is beautiful, it has become so overplayed. The mix played on mainstream radio is so slow. Definitely overdone. The 3Lau mashup of this song is awesome though; check it out below!

7. Levels – Avicii
Oh my gosh, this song! Please let it die. Avicii is talented, but “Levels” has had its glory- and it needs to never see the light of day again. It definitely didn’t help when Flo Rida sang over the track for his “Good Feeling” song. So done.

8. Summer- Calvin Harris
Mainstream radio burnt this song out. While it has a good beat, it’s definitely tired. Let it rest.

What do you think? Should any other songs make the list?
