New Release: Steve Aoki Remixes Soundgarden’s ‘Spoonman’ & Everybody Hates It

There’s no good way to break bad news, so we’ll just get right into it. Steve Aoki released a remix of Soundgarden‘s “Spoonman,” and people hate it.

To be fair, “Spoonman” came off Soundgarden’s classic 1994 album Superunknown, and anytime you take from a classic, people are bound to get a little angry. According to Spin, Chris Cornell’s vocals are just absolutely not suited to a non-rock and roll world.

Critic opinions aside, we don’t think the song is that bad. Heck, it’s even kind of catchy. Considering it’s for a T-Mobile commercial that will be aired during the Olympics, it could have wound up a lot worse. After all, advertisers often have final say.
