Lollapalooza Founder Perry Farrell Says ‘I Hate EDM. I Want to Vomit It Out of My Nostrils’

Okay, so EDM may not be for everyone. But Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell doesn’t just dislike it, he despises it to the point that it makes him want to vomit.

Perry Farrell is definitely not a fan of EDM.

It’s kind of an odd reaction considering his stage at Lollapalooza, called Perry’s Stage, hosts primarily dance music. However, Farrell has stated that he’s a total fan of house music, just not the EDM scene.

“When they said they wanted to name a stage after me (at Lollapalooza in 2005), I was honored. I like the adulation. But now you say, ‘Perry, what’s going on with your area here?'” the former Jane’s Addiction frontman asked.

Lollapalooza has had more and more EDM acts in recent years.

“Believe me, I’ve got questions myself. I hate EDM. I want to vomit it out of my nostrils. I can’t stand what it did to what I love, which is house music, which was meditative, psychedelic,” Farrell elaborated. “It took you on a journey. I sometimes cringe at my own festival.”
