For those of you who missed it, Hippie Sabotage were performing at What the Festival in Oregon last year when they started causing trouble. A sound technician told them to stop messing with the system, and that’s when chaos erupted. The duo threw their microphones into a pool, and when security came, they started an all out brawl.
Eventually, they got thrown out of the festival. They issued a very lackluster apology, but it was too late. Fans were angry. Festival organizers were angry. Ultimately, a petition even started circulating requesting that Kevin and Jeff Saurer get banned from performing at upcoming festivals.
Despite all the negative publicity, Hippie Sabotage kicked off their 2017 headlining tour without a hitch. The “Chasing the Wild” tour started up in February. It’s coming to a close later this week, but so far fans have had nothing but good things to say.
A reviewer who saw the Kevin and Jeff Saurer perform in Nebraska was shocked at how much the pair had grown since 2015. In fact, when Jeff brought out a guitar for “Devil’s Eyes,” the reviewer wrote, “The mix of clean electric guitar and thundering bass was as enchanting as it was innovative.”
With loads of audience interaction, “The brothers literally had the entire theatre eating out of their hands.” That’s a pretty big statement! Still, the important thing is that Hippie Sabotage is no longer duking it out with security guards instead of performing.
