Electric Forest Focuses on Sustainability with Electricology Program

It wouldn’t be Electric Forest without, duh, the actual forest. Each year, Electric Forest takes place in the woods of Michigan. The festival is not only a way to get in touch with music, but to get in touch with nature as well.

Electric Forest is taking respecting nature even further through the Electricology program. The program helps attendees plan sustainable packing methods for camping, provides recycling stations and other incentives for keeping clean.

The rules for Electricology are simple.

One of their coolest additions is the Electricology Prize Cart. The carts are “roaming Electricology Stores, inspiring mass litter pickups and giving away instant sponsor prizes for trash all over the festival.”

What does that mean, exactly? The Prize Carts apparently show up as sets are concluding. Once you hear its signature theme, which is a song written by Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident, the race begins. Whoever collects the most trash in the timespan of three to eight minutes is the winner.

Prizes include things like posters, shirts and Electric Forest merch. The biggest prize available is free Electric Forest tickets for life!

The festival takes place the weekends of June 22-25 and June 29-July 2 of 2017. Headliners include The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, Odesza, My Morning Jacket, Above & Beyond, Flume, DJ Snake and tons more.
