Deadmau5 on Display: Canadian Museum Shows off Mau5 Head

It’s official–deadmau5 is museum worthy. His home country of Canada is now honoring his existence with a special exhibit.

Things are getting cheesy.

Canada’s National Music Centre just revealed their latest exhibit. It’s none other than one of deadmau5’s Mau5 Head’s. If you’re familiar with the producers extensive catalogue of faces, this is the one that looks like it’s carved out of cheese. Along with the Mau5 Head, the Music Centre is also displaying his trademark outfit, which is considerably less exciting. It includes simply the Puma shirt and jeans that he normally wears.

Here’s what the museum wrote about the display:

There are few stage props as whimsical and recognizable as the trademark mau5head worn by Canadian electronic-dance music producer Joel Zimmerman—better known as deadmau5. One of many versions of his iconic mau5head, this cheesy iteration was the result of a fan-based design contest. After receiving almost 2000 submissions, deadmau5 chose Lance Thackeray’s Cheese Head design as the winner—favouring its humour and simplicity. The 3D version was produced in Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in Hollywood and worn by deadmau5 during live performances, and on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 2012.

Pretty neat, eh? Here are some of the pictures:
