Calvin Harris & The Chainsmokers Lead the Way at the VMAs

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but the MTV Video Music Awards just announced their 2017 nominees…and Calvin Harris and the Chainsmokers took the lead for EDM stars.

However, the EDM superstars didn’t dominate the nominations as a whole. That honor went to Kendrick Lamar, whose video for “Humble” was nominated in eight separate categories. That includes the biggest categories of Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Calvin Harris’ video “Feels” is up for Best Collaboration.

Katy Perry and The Weeknd tied for the second-most nominated artists of the year, each earning five.

The Chainsmokers and Calvin Harris were pretty far behind. Both of them got two nominations, but overall that’s not too shabby, considering the dance music category at the VMAs is quite small. Calvin Harris is nominated for Best Dance Video, where he’ll be competing against Afrojack, Major Lazer, Zedd and Kygo. He was also nominated for Best Collaboration for his track with Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean called “Feels.”
