Borgeous Talks Inspiration for Multifaceted Debut Album ’13’

One name that kept coming up on festival flyers this year was the pseudonym of John Borger, known as Borgeous. He wasn’t ever headlining, but he made the cut at some of the biggest festivals around like Ultra Music Festival.

Gorgeous Borgeous.

Now, the debut album he released at the end of August has the potential to push his career even higher. In an interview with YourEDM.com, Borgeous talked about the expansive sound of his album 13 and so much more.

“My goal was to put out something unique that can be consumed both as a whole and as individual tracks,” Borgeous said of 13. “Each song on 13 sort of took on the mood I was in while making it, and I want it to be listened to in the same way. I would love for it to be received well, since I tried to give it variety hopefully there is a song in there for everyone to enjoy.”

That may be true, because even though he’s know for house songs like “Tsunami,” he branched out majorly on his debut album. YourEDM even describes one track, “Going Under,” as “laidback, futuristic,” and “almost tropical.”

It turns out “Going Under” was partially the brainchild of Loud Luxury. “When I heard Loud Luxury wanted to work on something together with that vibe we went at it,” Borgeous said. “I really wanted to do a feel good, listen to anywhere kind of song that makes you want to be near the beach.”

He’s even got the video to match the tropical, vacation-inspired song:

So now that we’re all inspired to go on a vacation, here’s a proposal for Borgeous: how about you play a show somewhere tropical and fun this winter see we can plan the perfect getaway?
