Avicii Cancels 2015 Tour

World-renowned Swedish DJ Avicii has just announced that he is canceling the remainder of his tour dates for 2015. He was booked to play many shows later this year at XS and Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas, a few shows in Japan, and one in Pennsylvania.

Wynn Las Vegas nightclub director, Jesse Waits says the club’s resident DJ, Avicii, will return in 2016. The resort-style casino announced on Wednesday, September 2 that that Diplo, Zedd, Skrillex, and Dillon Francis will replace Avicii at his six schedule appearances in Las Vegas throughout September and October. Those who have bought tickets can attend the shows or get a refund from wantickets.com

Avicii said in a statement that he’s taking the break after his busy festival, tour, and album production schedule. Reps say his overloaded summer schedule, the pressures of dropping his new album Stories and his directorial debut on music videos for new singles “For a Better Day” and “Pure Grinding” contributed to his decision to take a break. Avicii tells reports that he needs to “grow up” during this musical break. Suspicious? Maybe. Almost one year ago, he was forced to cancel his scheduled shows due to health issues and surgery to remove his gallbladder and appendix. His cancelled shows included headlining at TomorrowWorld his brief tour of Asia. 2013 also saw an onslaught of Avicii cancellations of the Sunburn Arena India tour due to his habitual drinking and other health-related issues.

When asked to comment on his recent decision to cancel the rest of his shows in 2015, Avicii said, “I look forward to keep being innovative with my team in leading a bigger change than just with my music. In moving my tour promotional responsibilities to next year, I have a great opportunity to focus on myself and spend time trying to grow up in a way I never got the chance to – normal, or as normal as it could get. My team, label and family have encouraged me to do that and I realize not many in my position get that opportunity.”

Wynn Las Vegas announced the following schedule changes:

Encore Beach Club
Friday, Sept. 4 – Dillon Francis (Zedd previously scheduled)
Saturday, Sept. 5 – Zedd
Sunday, Sept. 13 – Diplo

XS
Friday, Sept. 4 – Skrillex
Saturday, Sept. 12 – Diplo

These other performances are postponed until further notice:

October 10th – Fuji-Q Highland in Fujiyoshida, Japan
October 11th – Fuji-Q Highland in Fujiyoshida, Japan
October 12th – Maishima Beach in Konohana Ku, Japan

We hope he feels re-energized and ready to tackle the world in 2016!
