The Spanish police swept in to the island via helicopter. Four people were arrested, including the owner of the nightclub, Martin Ferrer.
Sources are reporting different reasons for the police raid. Some suggest it has something to do with the tax authorities, while others say it was part of an anti-drug operation. Police and officials have not been allowed to make any comments on the situation.
A report from the Guardia Civil stated, “There is an operation in progress but the court secrecy order means we won’t be making a detailed official comment today or sending out a press release.”
The arrests may affect other parties taking place at Amnesia Ibiza. Tuesday’s weekly party Together had some back and forth on if they would maintain their regular schedule. The promoter of Together initially tweeted that they would be “open tonight and running as usual.” However, just a short time later, they tweeted out their regrets.
The tweet, which appears to have been deleted, read, “We’re very sorry to say we’re not at amnesia tonight due to circumstances out of our control. Hope to see you next week.”
This appeared to be a false alarm, because Together Club then changed their tune in another tweet:
STOP PRESS: All systems go! We are now opening at midnight!
