Amnesia Ibiza Nightclub Raided, Owner Arrested–Possible Drug Bust?

One of the longest-running nightclubs in Ibiza took a major blow earlier this week. In the midst of the Cocoon party, which featured artists like Sven Vath and KiNK, police raided Amnesia Ibiza.

Amnesia Ibiza is a popular party location.

The Spanish police swept in to the island via helicopter. Four people were arrested, including the owner of the nightclub, Martin Ferrer.

Sources are reporting different reasons for the police raid. Some suggest it has something to do with the tax authorities, while others say it was part of an anti-drug operation. Police and officials have not been allowed to make any comments on the situation.

A report from the Guardia Civil stated, “There is an operation in progress but the court secrecy order means we won’t be making a detailed official comment today or sending out a press release.”

Several parties are hosted at Amnesia Ibiza each week.

The arrests may affect other parties taking place at Amnesia Ibiza. Tuesday’s weekly party Together had some back and forth on if they would maintain their regular schedule. The promoter of Together initially tweeted that they would be “open tonight and running as usual.” However, just a short time later, they tweeted out their regrets.

The tweet, which appears to have been deleted, read, “We’re very sorry to say we’re not at amnesia tonight due to circumstances out of our control. Hope to see you next week.”

This appeared to be a false alarm, because Together Club then changed their tune in another tweet:

Other parties held at Amnesia Ibiza include, HYTE, Rhythm & Waves, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike’s House of Madness, Paris Hilton’s Foam & Diamonds, Espuma, Marco Carola’s Music On and People from Ibiza.
