Alesso Reworks ‘Years’ with K-Pop Star Chen – Listen HERE

There are some really interesting collaborations going on all the time in music these days, but this one is really spiking our interest. Alesso has paired up with K-Pop star Chen to rework Alesso’s track “Years,” which originally featured Matthew Koma.

Alesso may not have been in the game that long, but he knows how to win.

The first version of “Years” came out in 2012 and helped set up Alesso’s style with melodic tracks. It was one of Alesso’s very first singles and has since become somewhat of a classic for him.

Chen has become famous for his work in K-pop group Exo.

Chen, on the other hand, has had a very different career. In 2011 when he was just 18 years old, he became a “trainee” in S.M. Entertainment’s Casting System. The label formally introduced him as the fourth member of K-pop group Exo in 2011, and he’s been making waves with them ever since.

He’s been busy all over the place when he’s not performing with Exo. Chen has made his own solo projects, performed in musical theater gigs and competed on television competition shows like King of the Mask Singer. Needless to say, he’s got quite a following.

It seems a little weird that Alesso and Chen would choose to rework a song Alesso had already done rather than crafting something new together, especially since they are both talented songwriters. Still, a four-year gap since “Years” has been released may have been long enough to make the song fresh again.
